๐ซAn Auxiliary Power Unit is a device on a vehicle that provides energy for functions other than propulsion.
๐ซIt provides power other than from propulsion systems, the main purpose of APU aircraft to provide power when starting engines.
๐ซAPU is used to run the support systems when the engine is turned off, this causes the cabin air be comfortable, some APU also connected pump hydraulic that allows to operate the equipment hydraulic (flight control) before starting the machine (turbine, propeller, jet).
๐ซThere are some part APU such as: generator, oil filter, fuel nozzles, oil tank, bleed water manifold, etc.
๐ซThey are commonly found on large aircraft and naval ships as well as some large land vehicles ๐ซAircraft APUs generally produce 115 V alternating current (AC) at 400 Hz(rather than 50/60 Hz in mains supply), to run the electrical systems of the aircraft; others can produce 28 V direct current (DC).
๐ซAPUs can provide power through single- or three-phase systems.
